In June’s Journey-The new secret room Amelia’s Lost Love deducts special energy when I tap to play, but the scene won’t open. Tapping again just deducts more energy. I have the max number of keys. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like a bad glitch. If you are connected to Facebook (and thus your game progress is saved), then try uninstalling and re-installing the game. Otherwise, contact customer support through the "help" button in the game settings (green gear icon) and explain the problem.
