First, make sure your game is closed. Then go to your email and click on the offer. It should open your game and load the offer, takes longer than the usual game opening. Once the game is open, check the island mailbox.

I click on the link in my email. It connects me to the game. My mailbox has a message in it. When I open it, I receive the reward.
