A bush can only be received if there is an empty space at the time at which it is being gifted. If there is no room on your island you will not be able to receive a bush even though someone wants to give you one. They will get a message that there is no space available on the island and they will have to go away unsuccessful in giving you the bush.

If you can see someone has sent you a bush, then that bush is already on your island and you can't find it because it is probably hidden behind one of the large decorations.

You cannot later make room for a bush that was given earlier, because that bush could not have been given in the first place since there was no room on your island. The game will not allow it.

If your island is full, other players cannot give you any bushes. When they visit your island, all their bush buttons will be gray instead of green.
