I read it was wise to purchase the garden soirée set as I’m new to the game, will I get any special reward for completing it other than the “elegant gazebo” which if I understand correctly isn’t going to generate coins… why was I encouraged to purchase this set?

The only reward is the Elegant Gazebo, and no, it does not generate coins. None of the decorations from this introductory has been repeated in the 4 years that the game has been released. This may be your only chance, so it is good advice to buy any of those items in the set now.

There isn’t any way to “purchase” the intro set, unless you mean purchasing diamonds. This answer is somewhat wrong. It is correct that none of the items have been re-introduced in a set, but they have been in the Special Decorations that you can purchase, as I have purchased a beagle set, lantern, picnic set, and I have just purchased the Gazebo, that I did not win in the intro set. I also saw the cake cart offered to buy, and you can also get the chairs and the swing at any time, since those are always available.
