Can you compete without earning blue ribbons?

Can you compete without earning blue ribbons? I’ve heard that if you play 1 scene, leave the club, rejoin the club you can continue to play the competition but you don’t earn blue ribbons. Is that right?

Why would someone want to do this? Isn't the point to earn ribbons to contribute to the team's chances of promotion? Another question indicated one could play faster and earn more points if not earning blue ribbons. How does this work?

So, I have to finish 1 scene, not 1 round before leave group, right?

Just one time of the 1st scene will work.
