If I earn compasses in a competition can I refrain from claiming them and use them when they are called for by a Help Wanted task? Will it count?

Ms. Tearius Answered:
Yes, you can; they will count toward the Help Wanted task. However, it will only be available for a limited time. The compasses will gone and unclaimable, I believe, 24 hours before the start of the next competition. Not certain about the timing.
