Ms. Tearius Answered:

Shown next to the team icon is the badge of the league division that the team is currently in. There are 6 badges:

Rookie Division - brown badge with notebook & pencil

Inspector Division - green badge with binoculars

Sleuth Division - pink badge with magnifying glass

Private Eye Division - light blue badge with fedora hat

Ace Division - yellow badge with a detective's badge

Sherlock Division - dark blue badge with a tobacco pipe

If you tap on any club and look at their "statistics", you can can see how many times they have finished the league in each division. It is a good indicator or their competitiveness and teamwork.

So the detective's badge means that team is currently in Ace Division, having been promoted 4 times in 4 weeks. They are a competitive team.
