Yes, same name exist. In fact, when the game generates names for players, it repeats those names, so you will see them repeated very often.

if they want to change their island name, they can tap on their profile and tap on the pencil next to the name. First change is free, after that it costs 100 diamonds. 0 0 REPORT

I was a 600+ when my tablet died and I could not regain my old game. I started again with a new tablet and was fortunate enough to get into the same club. So yes, same name, same club, new game.
