Ok so I have something in storage but it won't allow me to place it, also I can't buy anything with all my coins I hit to purchase and the green check mark doesn't come up only the red x I have been stuck for days now?

Are you sure that the space on your island is clear of items, including grass tiles? Red X usually means the space is occupied.
