Why can people be members of different competing groups? And how do people "harvest" points? I think all that makes for disappointing results in the competitions

Each game can only be in one club. Note that game names are not unique. In fact, game-generated names are repeated, so the same name will appear in multiple clubs. But they will usually be at different levels.
I don't understand what you mean by "harvested" points. Points must be earned by finding objects/differences in the competitions. Hacking the game or using other software is prohibited, and the lounge will be removed from such players.
