Your game may have experienced a disconnection to Facebook. First, try going to the game settings, choose "social" tab and "connect to FB. If it already is, close the game, log out of Facebook, log back in FB, restart the game, and if asked, connect to FB and select the game in progress. Give it a day, hopefully friends can find and gift you.

Sometimes I get bushes from people, and when I try to pay them back their island is full. There is no room left to leave my bush. I’ve had 3 people doing this. I can’t pay them back. They need to make sure there is space.
