How does storage affect the number of flowers?

When you put an item in storage, you will lose it's flower value such that the amount of flowers you need to reach the next level will go up. So you will see the number next to your flower icon increase. For example, if the number says you need "100 more" flowers to reach the next level and you move an item with 50-flower value to storage, your number will now read "150 more" flowers to reach the next level.
