There is no game benefit to buying a character portrait. Once you purchase, it becomes one of the available avatars for you to choose from, which is visible to non-Facebook friends. You are better off saving tips to upgrade your drink energy, which benefits you and your teammates, or pink 5-star box for yourself, or hints for competitions.
