What good do accumulated magnifying glasses do?

Magnifying glasses don't accumulate. Do you mean golden keys, maybe? Those accumulate during Detective Needed Challenges to win rewards. Tap on the stop watch icon on the left side of your island screen when a challenge is active to see details, progress, rewards, and timer. Once the time runs out, the keys stop appearing. Keys count starts over at the next challenge.

Please disregard the above. Magnifying glasses accumulate for players who are beta-testing for the new Detective League feature. You can earn the weekly reward shown in your lounge (trophy icon). Collect them to compete with other clubs in your division for the top 3 spot, which will advance to the next division and next greater weekly reward. The trophy icon in the lounge will show your club's ranking in the division and the podium icon to see your club's ranking globally.
