There is a recent glitch, such that the bush to be gifted will not automatically find a free space off the visible screen. You'll have to move that bush to a free space manually, then you will be able to place it. If you see that the gift has a red square base, it means it cannot be placed. One way to re-position it is to close the bush menu, move elsewhere on the friend's island where there is some open space, then tap on the trowel icon to open the bush menu and select a bush to give.

I did everything suggested here, the check stays Gray so I can't reciprocate a flower/Bush gift to their island and their island has a lot of open space.. Could the problem be in their game setting? 0 0 REPORT

If all the checks stays gray, that means the player's island is covered. Sometimes people cover with grass, so it looks like open space, but they are not. There is no game setting that allows/prevents receipt of gift bushes. Guest Replied
