It is a game glitch. It happens on my mom’s game but not on mine. I suggest contacting Wooga through the help. You can find it when you are going to your island, clicking the gear icon (upper right corner on iPads), clicking the “Help”, then at the top right of that is a “Contact us”. Let them know about the glitch.
