Compartment 302 seems to be clearly referring to Sept 30th, but I don't understand the part about news. Is it the "letters" from the mail box or something different?

Look at the June's Journey app page on Facebook. Look for a photo posted Sep 30 (or evening of Sep 29 for western hemisphere).
