Anyone else notice the blatant cheaters on Spot the Diff competitions?

Question Posted by Guest on

Anyone else notice the blatant cheaters on Spot the Diff competitions? Some of those scores are ridiculously high and I’m positive no human could get them.

For reference, I take 20-30 sec per round and I take no breaks in between. For a 45 min comp, my scores are usually around 1.5 to 2 mill. Each of the top 5 teams for these comps usually have one or two players that score up to 2.5 mill, and I understand that. BUT There’s this one team “Letter J” where nearly all their members score upwards of 5 mill every. single. time. The score difference between them and all the other top teams are insane. Every time, they win first place and it’s unfair to the rest of us.

And they’re not the only teams that cheat, there’s many more. But this one is so not subtle about it. I know lots of teams even opt out of Spot the Diff comps specifically BECAUSE of these cheaters. We just don’t stand a chance against literal bots or whatever program they created. The time rush comps are fair; I mean you really can’t cheat those ( fingers crossed). It just sucks to have gameplay ruined and Wooga always responds with the same auto-reply response saying they’re “working on it” but there’s been no results even with countless reports by other players. These teams are still HERE.

I legit face “Letter J” every single spot the diff comp bc the junes journey grouping algorithm knows my team scores well and groups us with all the other high scoring players which unfortunately include those cheaters. I feel like Wooga is just not being proactive about this issue and it’s not high up on their list when it’s affecting so many players. Although I love spot the diff comps, if cheating is going to be the norm, I say they scrap the game from competitions completely.

My team was normally in the top 5 with normal scores. Over the past 3 or 4 months we have dropped to top 10 and now are sliding out of that spot due to super high scores that we can NOT see how that can happen. As far as the debate over ME, I agree its not cheating, although it never did anything for me except give me a headache. I personally don't need a boost for STD but I take no issue with anyone who does use it for a slight advantage. What I do take issue with is the cheating that's clearly happening and Wooga won't do anything about it. So one of my teammates said something the other day that resonated with me. She said she thought these teams could actually be bots that Wooga created to win in order to drive up sales of their diamonds. I mean, it makes sense. They are getting huge; I actually saw a commercial about the game the other day. So they are now big enough to put ads on TV. The other thing I noticed was that these high scoring teams do not play every game. In about 5 games they will play 3 to 4. When they dont play, we get our 1st and 2nd place spot back. That also makes me think something is fishy. They don't play every game so not to lose their players from frustration. But give them that little boost of hope so they may think buying diamonds would be advantageous to their game. Wooga makes money from the sale of diamonds. This is a big win for Wooga. And to the player that said they wouldn't earn that much money from the sale of diamonds, let me put that in perspective...lets say most people won't pay the $99 for the largest bundle of diamonds but would be willing to drop a 20 spot for a bunch. Lets say, for the sake of argument that out of the 10m downloads that Google play claims for this game that only 10% buy diamonds. To keep the math easy on me lets say that 10% buys the $20 package..that, my friends, is $2m!! That's not chump change. What if those same people buy on a weekly or even monthly basis? Ugh to be able to have a small percentage of that revenue and I could retire! So, all that being said, do I feel this is a ploy by Wooga to earn more money? Absolutely I do! The question is what do we do about it? We have options, for sure. We can delete our downloads but we have built communities in our teams. My team comes from all walks of life and, in my opinion, are my friends. I don't want to lose that friendship over a greedy company. Option 2 just play the games and deal with it. I don't like that either because it gets frustrating when you could be expanding your game instead of saving for the comps just to lose to bots. Then the last option we have come up with is a massive "sit out" where we get as many teams as possible to have an organized sit out of either a particular game or a select number of games. For this to be effective we have to have a large portion of teams to join before this could even be effective. They would not notice one or two teams. But have only the bots playing, they would notice. The key is to get any team that feels the same way to join and stick with it. Only then will Wooga come clean. If you contact them they will say there is no cheating going on and that the complainants are being "out played ".... their words. Really? If that was the case it would not be a hit and miss as I've previously stated. I'm trying to post on any and all gaming formats to get the word out what we feel is going on with Wooga's Junes Journeys. I will leave you with these thoughts: This is a great game that I personally have enjoyed. I was able to start a team and meet awesome people from around the world and I like to think we are friends. I dont want to risk losing these comrades because of a game developer being greedy. Think about this and decide for yourselves if a mass boycott would at least send a message to Wooga that WE SEE THEM.

You’re absolutely right I do me and my highest score is about 3 mil but we play against teams that score over 5 mil, I’m really fast so I wonder how is that even possible and the same with tr I score about 270000 in 30 min and the teams that won had over 500000 so that’s insane. The should put them with other teams so that it’s fair

I agree that a mass boycott would send a message to wooga, but the question is how do you mobilise enough clubs to make a difference? My club has been suffering lately, from being in #1 and or at least in the top 3 every week. Suddenly we're now at the bottom and barely touching 9th place. Something has to be done. My team are from around the globe UK, India, US, Australia, Canada, Ireland. It would be a shame to lose that friendship that has been built up over the past two years.

We noticed this and even 3 of us playing at the same time cannot reach those scores. EXCEPT one time. The timer kept giving us more time and we played for over two hours!

We don’t know what we did to get the timer to increase with every play. Was it a bug or is there a hidden way to do this?

Forget all the little stuff, like magic eye etc… our team has been together over 2 years, we witness blatant cheating on every tournament in game (week) 5 and 6. We watch the other teams and early on this happens. A player will score 10k (even number) then leave the group and come back. We can’t figure out how they get the 10k, we are only seeing this pattern. Other cheating patterns also but this one is one of the largest cheats.

Wooga supports ME.

ME = fast usage of Energy

Friend is level 800+ and uses over 800 energy each event without buying energy.

Still scores are somewhat low as no ME.

So ME users must be using 12-1500 energy - how can you even generate that without making PURCHASES?

Hence - Purchases for energy = profit = ME good for Wooga - hence Screw everyone else.

Wooga are in it for money and nothing else - they'll milk this all they can unless they see people stopping playing and leaving the game.

It takes about 1600 energy to reach 4 million points (~9 scenes), which is easily obtained with an active coffee-sharing club without using real money. After that the points are added exponentially, so fewer energy is needed. For sure, there are players who spend money, but I seriously doubt that it's a huge money maker.

Just jumping in here to second what you’re saying, Four of my team members have learned Magic Eye. It was eye opening to see the scores they pulled in. What I used to think were bots gone wild, aren’t. Me? I still haven’t gotten the hang of it, but the practice has made me better at the “regular’ way of spotting the difference. To support our Magic Eye people because it costs a LOT for them to compete, we shower them with bushes and abundant coffee hours.

I regularly get between 2-3 million points on a 45 min StD. It takes about 2300-2600 energy depending on the cost. I regularly have this because every one of my teammates meets every day at coffee time and shares between 1-3 coffees. (And we have all reached 15 pt coffees). I can do magic eye and usually average around 8 seconds per scene. I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone could score double what I score. Physically it seems impossible.

I wrote to the the game developers and received some bs answer with lots of excuses but no solution. They don’t seem to have any issues with players using Magic Eye so that’s pretty much it. Those of us who want to play FAIR, are at a disadvantage when it comes to those who think this Magic Eye thing is not considered cheating! While I understand that it is something that anyone “supposedly “ can “train” their eyes to do, I for one, can’t! My eyes are bad enough as it is without looking for ways to damage them even more!

To me, fair play is when everyone has the SAME advantages.....without using any TRICKS!

I’m new to JJ and only have 175 scenes finished. I do not belong to a team or join others on fb.

It’s upsetting that scores are inflated and that I will never be at the top of a leader board nor get as many diamonds, money or as much energy because I want to play fairly and enjoy the challenge-

I also find it hilarious that people buy their success by purchasing diamonds, energy, boxes, and more $$. What happened to playing a game for the challenge? If you know that you cheated and bought your standing then isn’t that a hollow win?..

I think it’s amazing how people get so worked up over ME. Although I agree that wooga should group them together so that they compete together giving other teams a chance to place higher than sixth. Wooga is a business, if they make money, hurray for them! That’s the purpose of a good product. Anybody that spends real money on an internet game in my eyes is crazy. I have played almost three years and have not spent a dime. But, they work hard for their money. Does it make somebody greedy if YOU are foolish enough to spend real money?

How do you tell people they can’t use ME? It would be like telling someone younger it’s not fair they can go faster than me cause I happen to be older and slower. If it’s something you can learn, how can you stop it? If I could use it I would! Now bots and hackers I agree are real cheats. Hopefully Wooga can tell who they are and boot them off. Or group them together so they compete against themselves.

MagicEye is cheating. Wooga needs to come out and say that. Wooga's long-time players are smart enough to weigh the cost of energy versus prize competing against MagicEye players and will no longer expand monies on energy, hitting Wooga in the pocketbook. Play fair. You say MagicEye is being encouraged to use by Wooga - then make MagicEye-only teams where they can play all together crossing their eyes for a straight 45 minutes for a couple of pink boxes. Hope their eyes don't stay that way.

Logged on again and several people of that team was ineligible to play included one that had already played and finished with a high score. Logged off and logged back on a few minutes later and now they are all eligible to play and the player with the high score is back. The team and half the team members has no name! Go figure. Just to add my opinion here. I don’t think that ME is cheating, some people do it without even noticing. There is no way to control it either. It would be like saying being young and agile should be banned, certainly those in my team who are a lot younger than I am, score a lot higher.

As for saying wooga are only in it for the money well, why else would they develop a game and employ people to manage it etc? It is a business like any other.

If some people wish to send real money on virtual items then that’s up to them, evidently it improves their enjoyment of the game or they wouldn’t do it.

Yes, it is possible if you know how to use Magic Eye. Magic Eye is something that has been around for a long time. It gives you the ability to cross your eyes slightly while looking at 2 side by side images, once the middle image becomes the clear image you see, relax your eyes a bit and it will zero your sight on that image. the objects will look holographic.

ME is NOT cheating, it is a skill and anyone can learn to do it.

Good luck!

Ok - so I get the whole ME thing. Not fair, but some people can do it, others can't - HOWEVER - that still brings in to play the energy costs of doing it. 12 energy per round, 15 rounds per scene. How are people getting 12-1500 energy as a minimum to do this? Surely they must be buying it from the shop? If that is the case why would Wooga NOT support it - it's easy money for them.

I don’t buy energy. If your team gives double coffee several times, you can easily get that amount of energy. You can also use puzzles and star boosters. I also tend to limit game play before a comp so I don’t use up energy. I would like to know how players get such crazy high scores on TR though.

I’ve never used any money in this game, but if I know there’s a comp coming up, I will store my energy for a few days instead of playing scenes. If needed, I’ll use star boosters, or buy energy with gems given from bushes. I easily can start the comp with 6,7, or 800 energy. So I can’t imagine those who don’t play all week and just save, or share coffees how much energy they can start with.

Even though they have 16, only 15 can play and score. This happens when one player plays comp and scores, then leaves the club. Club retains his score and next to his name it says "unable to play" instead of his individual score; that's why it looks like the club has a great score than its existing members . When another player comes in to fill the vacancy, the club now has 16 member showing, but this new player cannot play or score. All is fair when this happens.
