What are the green plus signs for in the detective wanted challenge? And why are they timed?

It is a new special bonus. For the specified limited time, you will receive extra check marks when you complete those HW tasks with plus marks. Easy task will get 2 marks, instead of 1. Medium task will get 5, instead of 3. Hard task will get 11, instead of 8. So you will attain the pink box prize faster.

Last time, the Extra Bonus lasted about 36 hours. I assumed it was something everyone received.
