I was playing and I was 6 materials away from the total I needed to embark on Jack's plane. I came back 2 days later and I was 40 materials away. If you are away a couple days do you lose materials?

No, that shouldn't happen. Are you looking at the same delivery option? Are you sure you didn't use some of the materials for upgrading a building? Could also be a glitch.
