You should put some decoration of low flower value into storage. Replace it with decoration of high flower value. The higher the flower value you buy, the more space flexibility you have on your island. Sometimes this requires you to replace scenes for days/weeks to gain the necessary coins.

Replaying scenes? Like, go back after I have mastered it? Does that make money and those little wind-up keys.? I have been stuck for 2 days waiting for construction to finish on expensive decoration that will give me the blossoms to move to next level, so I missed out on the ‘Detectives Needed’ competition — I had really wanted those 5 compasses and bummed I couldn’t progress ... could I have kept playing older levels? No, it's replace. Replace an object (that you've put in your storage tanker) with another object of higher value to get the required Flowers to advance to the next scene, chapter, etc. You may have to wait for results, but the result cd be opening up new acreage.You can return to any chapter and replay but it's only rewarding, imho, if you beat your old score.
Another way to pass time is to put items in storage and return them as you redecorate/reorganize your island.
