Why do materials disappear in my airport?

Why do materials disappear in my airport? Just when I almost have all my materials, next time I go in, there are less. E.g. I had 48 of 50 hammers and next time I went to play it was down to 32. Do they expire??

No, they don't expire. But they may go down if you are using them to upgrade 3x3 buildings or if you send Jack off on a delivery.

I did not upgrade any buildings or send Jack out. I logged out this afternoon with 18 wood planks and this evening I only have 9.

I have not built any buildings or any such upgrades in quite sometime, due to the fact I am trying to collect material strictly for Delivery’s… every time I get within a few hammers or wood etc, I lose 20 or more….
