When I buy something for the island the construction time is never right. It says 6 hours and then when the 6 hours are up it reverts to 24 hours . Can never get orchids to do a thing.

The time is right, you are most likely reading it incorrectly. Many people misread the time as "old", but it actually reads "01 d", specifically zero, one, day, which is equal to 24 hrs. So "01d 6h" is 24 hrs + 6 hrs = 30 hrs total.

I had the same problem. Locomotive listed 6 hours and updated at the end of 6 hours to 24 hrs.
