Green photo pieces are used for the green Photos Journal, not the Memoirs album. Every 7 pieces will allow you to complete a photo and earn some game rewards. Complete all photos in the set for the grand prizes as shown on the left in the green book.
Some players are currently testing a new feature where they earn charms that will double their Memoirs rewards. Charms are found in Charm Boxes as rewards for certain side games. They have no relation to the photo pieces.
