I'm on the 3rd map. Why do my blacksmith guys stop working?

It's usually a shortage of raw materials; if your output of coal or metal is insufficient for your workers to make their product, they will stop work until enough materials come in. The remedy is to go to the building and see what raw materials are used. Once you know that, go to the building where the raw materials are gathered & level it up.
