I can't upgrade anything because I'm not making enough iron block so I'm stuck in limbo land, what..

I can only think of two issues

1) The production rate of the iron block building is low

2) The iron block building doesn't have enough resources to produce iron blocks

For case 1 increase production rates:

-increase worker count

-upgrade module (which for you will be slow to do)

-increase hero level (they have a production multiplier)

For case 2 increase your resources:

-check the production of other resources and upgrade as necessarily (you want to make an excess of everything)

-upgrade other resource buildings to keep up with iron block production demands

-sometimes it helps to reduce the number of workers you have in specific buildings to keep production of resouces flowing try that out
