How do you complete the daily task to catch 5 creatures? I catch fish and trash, but no creatures.

If you haven't had the task yet to catch creatures from Can'n Slappy then keep visiting him until you do. I didn't catch any creatures until I had done this.
Then use the cast and reel method. Tap to cast the line out then tap and hold to slowly reel it in.
