Paper Bride 5 - Chapter 5 - Mengyan Walkthrough

Paper Bride 5 Two Lifetimes is another in the popular series of Mystery Puzzle games from Heartbeat Plus. Inspired by Chinese Folk lore we follow 3 students who seem to be trapped in a world inhabited by ghosts of their pasts lives.

After following Tao Mengyan (Xiao Cui) again in chapter 4 and discovering the identity of the the person who has been playing with her mind. He takes Mengyan to be the paper bride and complete an ancient ceremony.

Yuanfeng and Ziyi are also captured but escape and are drawn into the same illusion. Now you need to save Mengyan.

Paper Bride 5 - Chapter 5 - Mengyan - Walkthrough

There is a puppet of Mengyan hanging on the frame. First tap on the dark entrance on the left to enter a room in the Tree.

Look in the section on the left wise with the red light. Collect the red Crayon.

Then you can open the book below it and see some clues.

Next take a Metal Rod from the table on the right below the window. Then tap on the floor to see an arrangement of toys, notice that the one at the top is holding a pointer.

Now tap on the green door. There is a Puzzle here

Green Door Puzzle

• There are 12 blocks with characters on them.
• These can be moved around the puzzle on the lines.
• The characters match those on the floor with the toys.
• Slide them to arrange them in the correct positions.

Copy the layout of the symbols as on the floor. But notice that the puzzle on the door has the pointer symbol to the right. So rotate the layout of symbols to the right.

The door opens, Tap on the figure there and collect the Candy in its hand.

Now back out of the room and tap the arrow at the bottom again to backup to a classroom.

Tap to view the doll on the floor. An object falls and then you see 4 shadow children.

Give the candy to the bullying children. When they leave you can collect a Large Button and a Ball.

Next view the TV in the corner of the room. You will see that there is no picture.

View the Aerial above it and add the metal rod to the left side to complete it. THen you have a puzzle

TV Aerial puzzle

• Use the control to move the left and right aerials.
• You can turn them to the side and also raise or lower them to make them shorter or longer.
• The clue is in the book in the Tree room.

Once done you will see an image on channel 4.Look down so that you can see the TC controls. You can now use arrows buttons on the left and right to change channels.

Follow another clue from the book.

Turn anti-clockwise to channel 3, notice the image. Then next turn clockwise until you find another image. Repeat this following the book instructions until you see 5 images and remember the channel numbers that they were on. After this you will only see a test picture.

Go back up on the TV to see the aerial again and tap the Remove button to collect the Metal rod again.

If you want to view the images on the TV again you can replace the metal rod and repeat this process.

Now return to the room in the Tree, there is a toy clock face on the wall by the door. Notice the TV clue on the top right.

Collect an Ancient Bell and a Photo

Now you can return to the Classroom and tap on the dark doorway on the left. The room is dark, but you can use the photo in this room, it will then light up.

First tap on the staff on the left side to see a Record hanging from it. Collect the Record. Then add the Ancient Bell to the hook.

Floating Lanterns Puzzle

• You cannot move forward in this room, it is a puzzle.
• There are a number of items that you will have seen on the TV in the classroom.
• There are 5 floating lanterns and above this there are 7 stars.
• Tapping the small figure in the light doorway in the distance will light up the stars one by one.
• You can also tap on 5 items in the room. The Bell, the tea pot on the red table, the gong, the lampshades and the small statue holding an object above the gong.
• You need to find the correct sequence of items to tap on

Solution:

Once complete a curtain will close and then reveal the same scene but with 2 boxes.

Tap to view the box in the center. There ares some grey lines drawn on it.

Use the red Crayon on the box to start a drawing puzzle.

Crayon Drawing Puzzle

• You need to draw in the grey lines with the red crayon.
• Tap on the nodes between lines to start.
• You can return to a point but you cannot draw over the same line twice.
• Follow the hint from a previous chapter to start at a point with an odd number of lines connecting and end on one as well.

When the box opens collect the Puppet.

Next tap to view a box to the right, just behind the Gong. Collect the white Small Head from the lower left.

Now back out to the first view with the puppet of Mengyan hanging from the frame. On the right is a small puppet stage, view this.

Add the Puppet to it. The scene will change to have puppets falling from the sky. Then a hole will appear where the stage was.

Tap the hole to reach a new room with a scale in the center.

View the scale.

Add the Large button and the metal rod to the puppet of Mengyan on the left. this will balance the scale. But then another puppet will appear and unbalance it again.

Back up and you will see more of the room. First collect a Large Key that is hanging on the left. And then view the Go board on the floor.

Collect the Tile from the top and then note the position of the counter on the board. This is a clue. Back up again to the starting area and now you can use the Large key on the floating door that is bound in chains.

This will open it and allow you to pass through. You are in a bedroom. There is a song playing on the record player.

Tap on the side of the record player to see a puzzle.

Record Player Puzzle

• There is a grid of 4 x 4 shapes.
• You can tap to change these from Butterfly to dragon fly and to ladybug.
• Set the correct layout of each according to clues.

From an earlier clue we know that we have White dragonflies, black ladybugs, and colorless butterflies. The Go board has white counters, black counters and empty spaces.

With the side open you see a puppet turning a handle. Tap this to stop the music.

Now view on top of the record play, the record that is there will disappear. Place the record that you have on the player.

Now go back to the side and tap the puppet again to start the player. After this you can now access the dolls house on the right of the room.

Add the Small head to the pair of dolls on the middle level. You will then be able to see the top level.

Collect the Puppet from the top, and then also take the Family Photo from the bottom level. Exit the dolls house and the bed on the left will transform into a book shelf.

Back out of the bedroom and return to the mystery room through the hole next to the Paper Bride Puppet. Then view the scale in the center again. Add the new Puppet to the left to balance it. More puppets appear.

Now go back to the School room. On the floor by the doll you will now see 2 small figures.

Add the ball to the front figure and it will be kicked and knock down a sun light.

All of the figures disappear and now you can collect a Drawing

Back up and return to the room in the tree. Tap on the table under the window to find a puzzle.

Block Slide Puzzle

• Place the Tile and the Family photo on the puzzle to start.
• The clue is to get the scary things away from her.
• Move the tiles so that the scary images (red) are separated from the large tile with the sleeping Mengyan in bed.

You need to place the red tiles to the sides and keep blue tiles between them and Mengyan. Surround the child with the blue tiles.

Once complete you can collect a Cloth Tiger and a Toy Caterpillar from the table where the puzzle was.

View the circle of toys on the floor again, there is a toy missing on the right (3 o'clock position).

Toy Puzzle

• Add the Cloth Tiger here to start.
• You now need to tap the symbols in the correct order to light them up.
• There is a clue for this in the small hanging puppets on the scale.

Solution:

Another Puppet will appear. Collect this.

Go back to the mysterious room with the scale and place this new puppet on the left side. It will then fall and you can collect a Photo.

Have a look at the shelves that on the right of the room, the items on the shelves are clues.

There is a book found at the bottom the is a diary from Mingling. Check the pages and turn to the last one to see a drawing this is a clue.

Back out and go through the floating door to the bedroom. View the side of the record player again. Then place the photo onto the puppet turning the handle. (you need to stop it moving first)

Then tap to make it turn the handle again. It now moves very fast.

Back out to the start area and you will see the puppet of Mengyan smile.

Now go to the classroom. There is something drawn on the board. Tap on the desk to look at it and then place the drawing you have with the crayons. Then also add the red crayon

Drawing Puzzle

• This is similar to drawing puzzles in earlier chapters, but you have 3 colors now.
• Select a color and tap to place some color as the target moves around the image.
• You need to place the correct colors in the right paces. And keep inside the lines.
• The clue is the drawing int he diary of Mingling.

Solution:

You then can collect some Books.

Return to the bedroom. The record player puppet will burst into flames.

View the book shelf and then add the 3 books that you have to complete it. This is now a puzzle

Bookshelf Puzzle

• Tap pairs of books to swap their positions.
• Arrange them according to a clue to complete the puzzle.
• The clues are on another set of shelves.

Follow clues from the position of objects on the set of 6 shelves in the mystery room with the scales.

Collect a Small tile from the shelves.

Now head back to the classroom (after the cut scene). On the shelf below the window is a set of blocks. Add the small tile to it to start the puzzle.

Tiles Puzzle

• Use the arrows to move the columns of tiles up or the rows to the right.
• Arrange the tiles to display the complete picture of the paper bride.

Now collect the Small Bag that is revealed.

Next go though the dark doorway on the left of the classroom. It is raining here now. Tap to view the small stage box on the right above the gong.

Rain Puzzle

• Tapping the dragon head at the top will move back the room and allow rain drops to fall onto the items below.
• There are 4 items, round table, long table, cat, vase.
• You need to get the rain drops to fall onto the items in the order shown by the 5 symbols below.
• The order is long table, round table, vase, round table, cat.
• You can protect items by raising the umbrellas held by the figures.
• You can also adjust the order that the drops fall by swapping the numbered parts on the roof.

Solution:

You can now collect the Butterfly Jade.

Return to the start area with the Puppet Paper Bride. On the left by the tree are some chains tied to the stack of 3 stone blocks.

Place the 3 items you have in them. Butterfly jade on top. Small bag in the center, and Toy caterpillar on the bottom.

There is a now a cut scene. Mengyan wakes up but then She and Ziyi are captured.

You then start a battle sequence with Yuanfeng.

Follow the on screen prompts. When you see arrows you swipe in the indicated directions, when you see a shield icon you need to tap at the correct moment to block. At the end there is a shield that you need to tap repeatedly.

This can be difficult but will get easier with practice.

Yuanfeng saves them, but is injured. His soul has been severed from his body. Tu Fusheng gives in and agrees to help you. Mengyan now heads off to save Yuanfeng.

This is the end of the game. You can watch the credits and then a cut scene with some hints for the next installment.
