How do you get defence coins?

Defense coins can be obtained a number of ways you can receive them from different alliance quests but the easiest way to get them is by clicking the defence department tab and then clicking the little plus symbol in the upper left corner by your defense coin bank. Once you hit that button you can use extra items you have to trade for defense coins. Click the item and then however many of them you want to use and hit exchange.
