How do I use the golden apples? It said use golden apples to open the piggy bank and I can't. What is their purpose?

I’m going to delete this game, it says you can open the piggy bank with the golden apples, but that’s just not happening, so I’m collecting all of them for nothing

The amount of golden apples you have only help you if you join a league. Each week which ever group earns the most (or least) golden apples moves up or down a tier.Guest Replied
Yes, the golden apples help your team in the league and you can also buy books for the library with your golden apples. Books available for purchase using your golden apples refresh every 24 hours. Every book you collect adds to your Library Score. Completing book collections will give additional bonuses to the Library Score! Guest Replied

I have a question, bot an answer, but I didn't see where to put in a question. So, I hope this reaches the correct thread and the correct person.So my game says I have over 5,000 golden apples, but in the league, it won't show more than 579 golden apples, no matter how many more golden apples I actually collect. Why?
