Why is it that in multiplayer, when I kill bosses I don't get the acheivement or xp! I hit the boss..

Why is it that in multiplayer, when I kill bosses I don't get the acheivement or xp! I hit the boss, I Was next to the boss, but I get nothing unless the boss is my quest! Please help I just wanna level up my animals and get gems?

I think you need to do a higher amount of damage?.
