How do I find a mate for my linx that was born from the first 2?

So to make a family with your original animals' babies, for one they have to be raised and leveled up to a certain level. Then, you can start a new family from one of them, but as far as I know, if you do that, it's your main family and you can no longer play as your first ones. I've never actually started a new family because I don't wanna lose the animals I leveled up if it does that. Maybe it doesn't change it and you can still play as them. If you are willing to risk it, go from the main menu on to your lynx or whichever animal, and next to the customization button is a family button with a tree symbol. It will tell you to choose which ever child you want, and it has to be level 10 or more. Click on that one, then it will ask you if you really want to start a new family as that animal. I don't know what happens beyond clicking yes. If you do decide to do this, please reply to me and tell me if it does or does not let you play as the parents anymore.
