I can’t seem to find any fish in this game no matter where I look so can someone please tell me how to get fish scales for the quest. Thanks!

I've been told there aren't any, but when I was swimming to the island with 1 den, I saw something swimming in the distance, but I couldn't see what since it was sun set

Does an animal with scales count like a alligator or crocodile 0 0 REPORT

In the water there are a bunch of floating trees I usually find fish swimming near them.
