What does the speed stat give your monster?

The Speed stat on a monster allows the monster to attack first if it has the highest speed in the battle. Some monsters have High Speed stats, for example my Deoxys base speed is high plus it as a breakthrough +122 on Speed Value and in battle I can use a skill to increase it's speed even higher, this then allows my Deoxys to attack 2 or 3 times in one turn
