Gamer reviews for Tiny Guardians
A Human Approach to Tower Defense in Tiny Guardians
Tower Defense fans who yearn for a career in the Secret Service, Rejoice! Your perfect game is here! Tiny Guardians by developers Kurechii advertizes itself as a TD sans the "T" and it absolutely is just that. Your tower is a traveler and the defense required is from an assortment of generally bad guys and wild vicious beasts.
The game is (awesomely) a premium title and will run you $3.99 to play without ads or gameplay essential in-app extras on both Google Play and the App Store. The available in-app purchases are solely for folks who feel like sending a few extra thank you dollars to the developers in exchange for a little character customization.
The game is a traveling strategy title that lets players combine different classes of defenders into a protective force to be reckoned with. The main story mode will not take up too much time. There are a total of 14 levels in three different difficulties (Easy, Normal & Hard that increase in difficulty as time goes on. After the story mode comes Challenge Mode that keeps the fun going by tweaking the level rules a tad in exchange for neat rewards.
There is not a detail of this game that seems haphazard or not thought through. The characters are animated to be simple, chubby and lovable, but somehow not overly cutesy (It is probably a direct result of their completely black demon eyes). The SFX are also oddly perfect. The bloodthirsty wolf sounds like a howling puppy. Granted, that should make them less enjoyable to destroy... But it doesn't, don't judge me.
I played the game on an iPhone 6 and the smaller interface wasn't too terrible to get a handle on, although the iPad's comparatively giant screen makes the already awesome graphics that much more engaging. The game has a way of keeping you interested by continually adding new defenders to your party, each with new and unique effects in battle. It does bum me out a little that these characters can be purchased ahead of time, but to each their own.
I'm giving the game 5 stars, because I love everything about it. I will be playing until the brutal bitter end and loving all of it. I can definitely recommend this one to all of you PvZ and Kingdom Rush fans out there. It is definitely a keeper.
