Does the makeup and hair choices affect the money your client pays you? Or is it just for fun?

No but if you turn in your clients clothes before they are due to receive them it will take money off your account on top of the screen.
One way to bypass that is to tap on your model and hit pink tab skip 30 min until you dont owe any money or wait till you have to turn in the outfit.
I found this out the hard way.
