I recently reset my talent points for my character. I thought it work the same as the talent reset..

I recently reset my talent points for my character. I thought it work the same as the talent reset of my creation. I was able to spend the points changing my creation function from Brute to Warrior. However when I reset the points from balanced, it did not give to points back to me to be put on something else such as war. I spent a 1000 gold to do it. What happened to the points? Do I lose them forever?
