There are square-like symbols in some of the match-3 games, often around the outside of the frame. How do I get rid of them? I don't know whether you need to match up objects close to them or if they need to be exploded in some way.

It sounds like part of the game. You may need to match 3 as close as possible to the squares in order to score points. Good luck!
