How do you get the gold tin can?

You need to play Ignatius Boulton game, click on the calendar and start it (it keeps returning and you can play it every few days). Initially you need to unlock the blue chipper by unlocking and placing the required number on top, this spouts seeds, grass and merge for bushes. Keep merging what comes out of the bushes and eventually collect green coloured stars to meet targets and collect rocks/bits of statue. After a few games and you have collected sufficient, you can merge them into stone gateways. These give out dollars and tin cans that eventually merge to a house, a gate and eventually the big tin can. When you get the can the gateways disappear and you are on to the next chapter.
