Does anyone know what yarn (from the moths) is for?

Does anyone know what yarn (from the moths) is for? Should I be collecting ships in the bottles (i.e. is there any purpose to the ships/mosaic)? What about butterflies? Golden seeds from the used seed bags?
Once you have completed Casey's sign, you will need them for yarn. I read somewhere that the ships are used for very high levels for those who just need something to do for ExP, the golden seeds arw basically the same thing for now, I'm not sure about the mosaics and when you are trying to get Casey's sign, you will need to feed the pool inflatables butterflies amd moths but will not need them until then.
