Can you use a piggy bank then merge it to get more stuff?

Yes you can merge the piggy bank to level 3. Not sure if you can merge it after it has been partially used, but I think maybe you can, because that is how things work with a lot of other items that give things.

First lvl piggy banks have 15 taps. I wait until I have 2 of them then tap each 14xs, merge them to get one lvl 2, and repeat. Lvl 2 piggy banks also have 15 taps. 3rd level is maxed, can no longet be merged, and has 20+ taps.

I just clicked the lvl 1 piggy 14 times and it VANISHED

Yes. You can merge partially opened piggy banks. I just did it.
