You start getting brick pieces after reaching a certain level in the lemon quest (max lvl that still gives you rewards is lvl 21) and you collect those rewards after lemon event ends

To be a bit more specific, to get the event XP crystals, you merge the whole lemons you get from the max level trees. The whole lemons make "lemon cosmetics" and once you get those to level 4 or higher, they start giving the XP crystals. 1 0 REPORT

Just before the competition ends you can sell all items. The cosmetics items will have a lot of value. Each new competition starts with new items so you do not need to keep anything.
