Are gloves ever available for purchase with coins rather than jewels during occasional 5-hour rotations of the shop? Any other shortcuts for acquiring them? (I need 8 separate pairs right now and sometimes use up more than 75 points of energy and lots of space to acquire even step-2 work gloves amidst all the gardening tools).

I have not seen any offered for coins in the past 4-5 gloves offered so I'm thinking either they are not available for coins or the chances of finding it for coins is so low/rare that it could take weeks/months and you'd be better off getting it from garden tool barrels if you aren't willing to spend gems on it.

8 pairs sounds like a lot. Have you been saving any gloves? I usually keep at least one or two pairs, usually when a quest needs high level tools I get a couple gloves out of that as a byproduct.

Not sure if this will work, but you could try to upgrade your garden tool barrel and see if it drops gloves more often. It definitely drops higher level tools at higher barrel levels. I have max barrel and I'll sometimes get lvl 3 pruning shears out of it (no merging needed)

Thanks for the tip! I will try that since my highest level barrel is still only 8. I get mad at myself when I think of how I sold a number of gloves awhile back when I didn't need them...and now, reaching the garden maze tasks, plus the playground area, gloves are needed for pretty much every task. And just now, it took me almost 200 energy points and all three of my barrels (levels 6-8) to merge a single pair!

Think of it this way, at least you will have a lot of high level gardening tools while making the gloves :)
There are sections of the maze that asks for those lv8 garden shears so all those points aren't necessarily going to waste.
