Economic Considerations
Family Guy The Quest for Stuff Guide
Before you get too far into the game it is important for you to understand that there are specific aspects of its economy that are going to be a problem for you if you do not adopt a game play strategy and habit to account for them.
This is a City Building Freemium Grinder - what that means is that the primary goal is to build the different structures (and in fact doing so is how you add characters and thus how you progress the game story) which are also part of how you generate wealth in the game.
There are two forms of wealth in the game -- the free form, which is Coins, and the paid form, which is Clams. The use of Clams as the premium currency is also an inside joke, since the name of the town in the series is Quahog, which is a type of Clam found in the New England region (and a very tasty one as well).
So you are faced with something of a Catch-22 -- you need structures to obtain income in the form of the in-game Coin, but you have to spend Coin to obtain structures. To further complicate the issue is the fact that in order to do pretty much any building or clearing action, you also need Builders in order to complete them.
What this means is that you really need to adopt play frequency as your habit, and always have every character that you have in your town doing something (a task) to earn Coin.
It may surprise you to learn that while Clams are nice for buying the premium items in the game, you are going to need Coin way more because the vast majority of the things you will be gaining Coin from cost Coin to build! That and pretty much all of the structures in the primary story line also cost Coin.
So to cap this off, these are the important points:
- Log in as often as you can to harvest buildings for Coin.
- Always assign each character a task before you log out so they are always earning for you.
- Try not to spend Coin on things that do not actually EARN Coin!
Follow those three simple rules and you will be well on your way to mastery of this game.
