Best and New Puzzle Mobile Games to Play in October 2026
October is a strong month for premium puzzle games on mobile. One nature-building puzzler has already landed, and three more arrive before the end of the month, including a first-person puzzle adventure that PC players have been asking about for a year.
Preserve: Complete Edition is out now with every expansion bundled in, The House of Tesla brings its Wardenclyffe mystery to phones on the 20th, Crushed In Time puts Sherlock Holmes inside his own unfinished video game, and Escape: Immersion floods an underwater base around you.
Here's the full list.

Recently Launched and Gaining Ground
Preserve: Complete Edition
Release: 6th October 2026
Slovakian studio Bitmap Galaxy and publisher Dear Villagers brought Preserve: Complete Edition to iOS and Android on 6th October, 18 months after the PC version. It's $6.99 with a launch discount, and there are no ads and no in-app purchases.
You build ecosystems by placing flora and fauna tiles on the map and finding combinations that work together. It's about synergy rather than logic — the right species next to each other will bring a stretch of wilderness back to life. There are three ways to play: Puzzle for structured challenges, Classic for balanced ecosystem building, and Creative for building with no restrictions at all.
The Complete Edition is the whole game in one package rather than a remaster, with every expansion included. That adds biomes running from the Jurassic age to marine and Ice Age settings, each with its own tiles and synergies, plus natural wonders and secret patterns to unlock. It works offline.
4 Pics 1 Word+
Release: 1st October 2026 (Apple Arcade)
4 Pics 1 Word+ joined Apple Arcade on 1st October, alongside Terraria and Pusheen's Place. It's LOTUM's long-running word puzzle, and the Arcade version is the subscription edition.
The setup hasn't changed in years because it doesn't need to: you get four photos that look unrelated, and you work out the single word that ties them together. It's the kind of thing you play in a queue rather than for an evening.
Coming in October
Escape: Immersion
Expected: 9th October 2026
Escape: Immersion is a horror escape game from Royal Games and AzDimension, and it's up for pre-order on the App Store ahead of a 9th October release. The first five levels are free, with one purchase unlocking the rest of the story.
You wake with no memory in an underwater military base that's coming apart around you. Water is filling the corridors, the steel is complaining, and getting out means working through environmental puzzles and traps while the base gets worse. It's built as a run of short, high-tension sequences rather than one long slog.
The look is VHS-grainy 2.5D, and the studio points to Inside and Little Nightmares as the reference points. It took four years to make, with the story rewritten more than once along the way.
Crushed in Time
Expected: 19th October 2026 (iOS)
Crushed In Time comes from Draw Me a Pixel, the studio behind There Is No Game, and it reaches iOS on 19th October after a June launch on PC. An Android version hasn't been dated.
It's a spin-off starring Sherlock Holmes and Watson, who are now the leads of their own video game — except one of the cast has gone missing and the game itself is coming apart at the seams. You grab, pull and fling things around to solve puzzles, and the world keeps flipping between 2D and 3D as you go.
The humour is the point, as it was in There Is No Game. The cast is fully voiced, there are gags hidden all over the place, and the puzzles send you through Victorian London and the game's own development history.
The House of Tesla
Expected: 20th October 2026
Blue Brain Games, the studio behind The House of Da Vinci, is bringing The House of Tesla to iOS and Android on 20th October as a Definitive Edition. It's $6.99, pre-orders are open on the App Store, and the Google Play version lands the same day.
You explore Nikola Tesla's abandoned Wardenclyffe facility across five chapters, in first person rather than point-and-click. A handheld prototype lets you interact with electrical currents, which is how most of the mechanisms open up, and the puzzles are built around Tesla's own experiments and plans.
There are flashbacks to Progressive Era America threaded through it, filling in what happened around the Wardenclyffe Tower. The PC version arrived in September last year.
On the Horizon
I Want to Play the Villain!
Expected: Early 2027
I Want to Play the Villain! is the full version of the theatre logic puzzler Triomatica Games put out a free chapter of in September. The studio, which also made Boxville, has it down for early 2027 on mobile, PC and consoles.
The puzzle is casting. Every actor in your company wants something, and you work out what by rearranging roles, swapping costumes, pairing people with the right partners and changing the story itself until nobody is unhappy. The free chapter, Villain!, has 18 of these to work through and is worth playing now if you want to know whether the full thing is for you.
That's the October line-up. Three of these arrive in the second half of the month, so the back end of October is where the playing happens. We'll have November's puzzle picks next month.
