Pay attention to what you are playing and try to arrange the tiles as effectively as possible for what might be coming up next. Contstantly keep matching everything except Swords, Shields and Keys.

Get rid of the non combat tiles first..

Save larger matches for battles.

The lines of tiles scroll in a continuous loop. Sometimes matches on the bottom row can be harder to see, so keep looping to find those that are hard to see..

Double tapping the home screen button (on iOS) will put the app to sleep and let you see the app in the background app select to make hard decisions easier.

Periodically, keep an eye on your character and see where he is running.

Focus your upgrades on shields before swords. The shield is what makes the enemies more manageable and will be more useful in the long run.

After you have finished everything prior to a level, you will be allowed to access it again to pick up missed creatures.
