There are a number of ways to get free coins in the game, here is what we have found so far:
1) Don't play the game!
Sounds strange, but it's true. If you have landed astronauts on planets then you be earning a residual income of coins at an hourly rate, don't play the game for a while and the amount of hours you are not playing gets multipled by your hourly rate, and that will be the amount of free coins you get. There is probably a limit somehwere - in other games this ha been two days or therabouts.
When you return to the game, you sometimes get a chance to double the amount of coins you have earned while you were away in exchange for watching an ad video.
However if you play the game you still get that income.
2) Watch Videos
Sometimes you get the opportunity to watch videos in exchange for more coins
3) Double coin bonus offer
You may encounter the voyager satellie/landing module which may offer you the chance to double, treble, or more, your astronaut income over a set period of time, usually in exchange for watching a video.
