You have to click on the sewing machine at the bottom of your screen, to the right of the 'Challenge hub' button.
If you are missing any items then it will tell you what you need to get.

I'm having the same issue and it just tells me the sewing machine will be available at some point during episode 3 but it wants me to upgrade a work station specifically the wig station. :/ 16 0 REPORT
