Is there a way to merge or upgrade pets?

I have 2 pets, both the same type. Seems useless to have 2.

I figured it out. Yes, you can merge pets to upgrade. You can't do it while one is producing treasure (after you feed it)... so just wait, collect the treasure, then merge the pets.
