How to Solve NYT Connections
As you know, to solve NYT Connections you have to find the four groups of four words. They are color categorized by perceived difficulty in the following order:
- Yellow - Straightforward
- Green
- Blue
- Purple - Tricky
16 words can be a bit daunting when everything just looks a bit random, but once you get that first connection of four words done, things start to get clearer. While there is only one overall solution, it's often the case that a single word could fit into a couple of categories, so do bear that in mind when working out your groups, as in the end, you can only use each word once. Here are our best hints to help you complete NYT Connections.
Best Hints for NYT Connections
- Work on one group at a time.
Once that first group is done, things become a lot easier, subsequently, with the second done, you are almost there. So don't get overwhelmed trying to complete the whole puzzle at once, break it down into managable chunks for the best progress.
- Does anything jump out at you.
Have a quick scan of the board and see if anything jumps out at you, you may see a couple of words that seem to have an obvious connection, that could be a good place to start.
- Look for familiar words.
Some words will be more familar that others, look out for these words, as they are often another good place to get started with your first group.
- Think outside of the box.
NYT Connections is a great test of your abstract thinking and sometimes you need to think outside of the box to make a connection, espcially for the purple group. But if you have completed one or two of the other groups first, it does make things easier.
